NEEDS:
Due to a general lack of storage space, Betty’s needs at this point are primarily two things: Monetary support and people willing to offer their time and services.
Monetary Donations: Currently Betty is accepting donations in two distinctly different funds: the "Homeless Fund" and the "Betty's House Fund." Money donated to the "Homeless Fund" will be used to fund the day-to-day needs of Chinn's mission (see below) — the peanut butter and jelly, coffee and other food; the buss tickets, gas vouchers and phone cards, and everything else Betty needs to serve the homeless and less fortunate of the local community. Donations to the "Betty's House Fund" will be used exclusively for the purchase, construction and maintenance of Betty's House, which Betty hopes will soon be the heart of her outreach efforts.
Volunteers: Betty needs volunteers who can spend their time cooking, picking up donations and help with day-to-day operational needs. She also is often in need of people with trucks and strong backs to help pick up donations and transport heavy things.
Services: Betty needs skilled people who can volunteer their time providing dental and medical care, soliciting corporate donations and writing grants.
Other: Betty also is in need of access to a commercial kitchen and a centrally located storage space.

Quite often a gift of a phone call or travel voucher or gas card can help pull someone off the street and bring them home to their family. A safe place to sleep for the night is an invaluable gift to someone living with daily uncertainty.

Full size pick-up truck to pick up donations
|
As help multiplies, so do the number of trips required to pick up and transport items. A larger vehicle would streamline that effort.

Important: Donations are gratefully accepted, but please do not engage in door-to-door fund raising on Betty's behalf. If you are involved with any fund raising event which benefits Betty in any way, please make sure to discuss it with her ahead of time to make sure she is comfortable with the circumstances.
